This roundtable discussion will offer a variety of perspectives on the process of revising, reconceptualizing, and reworking dissertation material into book form. Publishers and authors will offer insights from industry and academia on everything from how to best prepare a book proposal to best practices on determining which publishers might be best suited to specific types of work. The roundtable will also serve as an open forum to discuss a myriad of experiences with the audience, as well as to address any questions the audience may have.

Amanda S. McClain
Amanda McClain is Associate Professor of Communications at American Public University. McClain’s doctorate is in Mass Media and Communication from Temple University. She has published two books: American Ideal: How American Idol Constructs Celebrity, Collective Identity, and American Discourses (2011) and Keeping Up the Kardashian Brand: Celebrity, Materialism, and Sexuality (2013). She is also the Co-Chair of the TV Area for PCA/ACA. McClain’s research interests include reality TV, social media, and celebrity.
