Images move as fast as words. Words contain images. Words and images deal with fidelity by different means. Words and images deal with time by different means. Words and images deal with responsibility by different means. The vehicles that carry and circulate words and images determine their reading.
The relationship between words and images in present-day media utilizes few of the myriad possibilities for communicating meaning. Widespread algorithmic experiments cater to speed of transmission in service of specific motives. We agree to these experiments by way of the “terms of service”
We too can conduct experiments. We already do.
This presentation will address past, present, and potential methods of meaning creation through word and image combinations.
