Whereas the news media focuses on the contraction of the gaming industry in Atlantic City, this video counters the “casino-monger fallacy” faced by Rev. John Norwood and the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Tribal Nation. In their federal lawsuit, they argue that the State of New Jersey has violated their civil rights by acting on this stereotype and rescinding their recognition. This video details the tribe’s legal argument while highlighting its Christian faith. Not only have they prohibited profiting from vice in tribal law, they have an anti-gaming pact with other tribes in their confederation.
