Round Table Discussion

I’m proposing a round table discussion on the role of Native American issues in the 2016 presidential election. As the chair, I will open with comments on the perception of Pres. Obama’s achievements and shortcomings regarding key Native American issues, the resonance of Bernie Sanders’s stance in several parts of Indian Country, the reception of Hilary Clinton as the Democratic nominee, the labeling of Elizabeth Warren as Pocahontas by Donald Trump, and Trump’s own status as a major party nominee. Elena Piech and Jeremy Newman will also offer brief comments before the discussion is opened up to the floor.
