Knightly Codes or Proselytizing? Ethan Hawke’s Rules of a Knight

Presenter:
Diana Vecchio (Widener University)
Presentation type:
Paper
Abstract:

Ethan Hawke’s Rules of a Knight is simplistic, sentimental storytelling to a knight’s children designed to teach them ethics and values. While presented as a medieval tale of knighthood, it bears little resemblance to the knightly codes of the Middle Ages, focusing more on modern day Christian values. This presentation will explore the similarities and differences of those knightly codes, particularly between Hawke and Malory

Scheduled on:
Friday, November 4, 3:15 pm to 4:30 pm
